Theme- Management of Common Inborn Errors of Metabolism (IEMs)
Course plan- Starts- 21 st December, 2024
‘ONLINE’ session of 120 minutes, One day a week, Saturday evening 4-6 pm
- 14 online sessions for 3 months covering common IEMs seen in routine practice
- 2 days ‘offline’ capsule of laboratory and clinical practical sessions at New Delhi

Who can apply-
- 1. Trainees in Medical Genetics and Metabolic disorders
- 2. Pediatric sub-specialities and Super specialities, General Pediatricians, Intensive care Physicians, Adult metabolic Physicians (special interest in IEMs)
- 3. Dieticians (with special interest in IEMs) (with at least 2 years of prior experience)
- 4. Biochemists (MD/DNB Biochemistry trainees/ special interest in IEMs)
- 5. Laboratory scientists/ PhD students (dealing with Newborn screening or metabolic work up for IEMs)
Highlights
- 1. Clinical and biochemical presentation, acute management of IEMs in critically ill babies, long term management and follow up of common IEMs seen in routine practice.
- 2. Learn the basics of Diet/ Nutrition management in acutely ill and chronic states
- 3. Learn how to collect samples and then interpret metabolic reports on the bedside
- 4. How to start a Newborn screening program at your Center
- 5. Practical tips to manage IEM cases with supplements and diets
- 6. Hands on practical capsule for 2 days (offline)
- 7. Certificate of Merit to be given by ISIEM at the end of completion of all sessions and clearing the exit exam, interesting quiz and MCQ sessions
- 8. Protocol book on IEMs will be given complementary.
